So I'm writing some SI fanfiction but I'm always a bit finicky with specifics and was wondering if anyone would share with me some headcannons or ideas about when divergent was set. Anything goes, but I'm mainly looking for fandom consensus. I know the movie says 3079 and the books are non-specific, and I also know that generally the time range is largely considered 2150 at the earliest, 2200-2400 being most likely and 2500-2700 being late guesses. If anybody wants to lmk if they agree, disagree, headcannons, logical deductions, please go for it. Thx soo much (:
What's on your mind?

What purpose does each of the five factions serve in society? What personality types are drawn toward each faction? Do you think these factions represent every basic personality type and fulfill all the basic needs of people? If not, what faction(s) would you ere-ate to fill in any gaps?
I'm spamming this forum and I am so sorry. I tried to avoid having to ask for help, but I am dying here. I'm trying to rewrite the full series from Peter's perspective, but it's proving to be a challenge due to the fact that I've been sitting here for an hour going in circles about his aptitude test results.
Amity: This is an easy elimination, but I'll go through it anyways. He's not outwardly kind, which seems to be what those in Amity value. His morals are far from traditional. Despite having some sort of moral code, it is not one many share. He's not polite by any means, either.
Abnegation: Obvious elimination again, but he's very selfish. He is never willing to make a sacrifice for others. Even when he saved Tris, he did it for the sake of helping himself sleep at night.
Candor: The book specifically states that he used to pick fights with kids from other factions because people would believe him when he lied about what happened because he's Candor. He can be brutally honest in a cruel sense sometimes, but not in any way that wouldn't benefit him.
Erudite: While he's clever, he doesn't pursue knowledge as those in Erudite do. He more so is naturally smart and has survival skills, but he's not book smart and doesn't care to be book smart either.
Dauntless: Yes, he's plenty brutal and cruel, but he isn't brave. He runs when Four comes to save Tris (And leaves poor Drew behind :( ), hides behind Four when Edward approaches him, gets two buff (almost) men to help him fight a girl specifically stated to be strong, stabs Edward in the middle of the night while he's asleep, etc, etc. Even in his first appearance, he's reluctant to jump off the train. He's not brave whatsoever.
I'm struggling with the fact that he just doesn't have any of the factions positive attributes. It's very frustrating. I don't want to make him Divergent as that would mess up later events. Here's the fanfiction if seeing my version of Peter helps at all: https://www.wattpad.com/1295056062-monsterous-a-divergent-novel-chapter-one
I have been a little afraid to watch the Divergent movies, bc I have heard they’re really bad, and no like in the book. What do you guys think about the movies? And should I try to watch it?
We all know that Four works in the control room, he first said it when he introduced himself to the initiates.
But in the movie during this exact scene, instead of saying “I work in the control room” he said “I work in Intelligence”
What, is that?
Is it semantics? Because I’ve not heard these two meanings mean the same thing before.
Why this change of words or jobs in Book to Movie?
Does Four in the movies work a different job to his book counterpart?
Should I watch the divergent movies i read the books and I want to know if I should watch the movies
Spoilers for Allegient. I don't think it's needed but anyway.
So, actually, in a silly conversation between myself and Strawb in the THG wiki, I realized what could be a pretty big plot hole. At the end of Allegiant, where Tris breathes in the vaporized Death Serum (correct?), it affects her, i.e. it kills her. But, Divergents are supposed to be immune to serums. What am I missing? Or is this a plot hole?
Hello citizens of Chicago!
Recently, I have been thinking, and after discussing with Emmy, I have decided to bring it to your attention.
On Hunger Games wiki, as most of y’all know, we have a mega thread, as well as a category to easily access the mega thread. In the mega thread, we have off topic post, meme post, OC thread, and other important links. When there is a new person on the wiki, me or the other mods will easily use that category to access the mega thread, and we will add it to the welcome post, and then lock it in 24 hours. I have a few questions to ask y’all about these opinions.
Would you like a mega thread on this wiki? We want to hear your thoughts, but we will most likely still add it since it will be easier to find.
Would you like a category that can show all of the important thread posts so you can find it easily?
Please let us know your thoughts, and remember, faction before blood!
I have never seen this series but I have to ask, what are the sci fi elements in this if there are any, it appears to have tech related stuff but anything I am missing?
This is essential for Mind Games, and it's great if thus information is not revealed in the books, but if it is, then I may change either the canon events or my plans for Mind Games. Or do a little of both and meet in the middle. Thanks!
So i pronounce it "Eh-roo-dite". Wherever I say it outloud though it sounds wrong. What does everyone else think?
Can someone please explain the aptitude test results? I get confused on which choice eliminates which faction. I want to “administer” the aptitude test to my friends.
Uhhh she said she probably won’t it was just a joke but she loves Divergent, but she is like 39 so… It might be weird if she did join which I doubt idk lol-

A question that bothers me is that in the movies they refer to the fence as a wall. It definitely does look like a wall because it is very tall and long. In the books does the fence look more like a wall, but for some reason people call it a fence?
If you were a villain in the divergent series which type of villain would you be?
I think I would be the Evelyn/Alma Coin type villain. I would be that villain who at first seems to be on the good side, and helping people overthrow a bad thing (such as Jeanine), but eventually when the problem is fixed, I would be revealed to be a dictator who takes control and is the real villain. Idk for some reason I think I would be that type of villain.
If Natalie had disobeyed David from transferring to Erudite, but she also didn’t go to Abnegation, so you think that she would have fit into her original faction, Dauntless?
