(Spoiler) Tris in Allegiant

  • Tris could not have REALLY died.  It has no relation to anything from the whole series completeley out of the blew and i get it was a selfless act which is suppose to symbolize something but honestly PLEASE veronica just be playing with all of our emotions [ ex tris went into hiding "faking her death to protect tobias" idk i just fell that tris dying was completley stupid the series was based on HER expeirances

    • it was a horrible way to end a book  we asked her not to kill tobias so she killed tris

        Loading editor
    • It was a terrible ending. I think that Divergent was a really, really good book, one of my favorites. Insurgent wasn't as good, but it was still a good read. Allegiant sucked.

(BTW, this is just my opinion, so no need to freak out if you don't agree with me)

    • I thought Allegiant was great....but I can't stop crying. How could she kill TRIS? Our main heroine! The person who started it all! The one who defied everything and everyone! I expected for her to really be alive......I didn't like the ending. V could have at least given our imaginations the opportunity to create a happiER ending. Can't believe Tris is dead :"(

    • I am so upset- how could they DO that!

    • I know how could they kill Tris. I think Roth tried to make the point of Tris being abnegation to the end. But no matter what I will always cry at the ending of Alligiant.

        Loading editor
    • Veronica, WHY!!!!!! Why kill the protagonist? Ever since I was a kind I always thought that the protagonist would live...NOW I AM SAD AND MY CHILDHOOD IS RUINED! Please fix this mess and say it was their imagination or something. PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU!

        Loading editor
    • I actually understand her death.

Her final choice defined her as the selfless abnegation she always was, and the brave dauntless she became.

Im not saying that I havent been crying for the past three days, but I think the ending made sense. And I am very happy with it.

    • How could she do this I thought there would always be a happy ever after and now i completly hate allegiant but I dont hate Veronica Roth, I hate that Tris just died. I want to someone to put me out of my misery so I can stop crying :"( :"( :"( :"( :"( she scarred my life and ruined my childhood forever

    • i thought Tris' death was obvious as soon as Four has a POV chapter. because if you think about it, Veronica wouldn't of made Four a POV character if he was going to die, but having a surviving pov was smart on Roth's part. and plus, there was a ton of foreshadowing all througout Divergent and Insurgent for Tris' death, and anyways, it was a good death. she died saving everyone in Chicago.

    • I have to admit, I'm glad Veronica Roth killed off Tris.  Don't get me wrong I liked Tris, she was a great protagonist. But this is a dysotopian genre.  It's not meant to be a walk in the roses.  It was refreshing to me to have this author have the courage to do this to her main character.

    • i can not believe tris is dead. i mean seriously i was crying all night when i finished the book. you cant just kill the main character. i hope VR makes another book that either fakes her death to save her bro or make her come to life some how! but then again tobias scattered her ashes. Maybe tobias was dreaming of her death and wakes up to find she is fine!!!!! VR YOU RUINED MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i will cry forever. and dont even get me started on uriah...

BUT i can not believe it maybe that part can just be a dream (tris died) and tobias find tris asleep next to him with a broken leg or arm . PLEASEEE BRING HER BACK TO LIFE!!!!!!!!! • OMGG THIS BOOK RUINED MY LIFE:'(

Don't get me wrong, I love this trilogy but Tris' death wasn't necessary.

It could've been steered in any direction other than her death!

I feel so depressed, I've actually been crying for 4 days.

There HAS to be a fourth book with Tris actually coming back to life/ already being alive.

Oh and here's what I think happens: It was all a really long lasting simulation where it looked like Tris died but she actually didn't. And everyone involved in that simulation thought that Tris died but she didn't. And as for the part where Tobias is scattering the ashes, that's a dream

If that doesn't work then Caleb and Tobias make a come back to life serum considering they've got serums of literally everykind. They test it out on Tris, she comes back to life, and they all live happily ever after :)

      RIP Tris

        Loading editor
    • I know right, you've been just reading about this charactor for 3 WHOLE BOOKS and suddenly, boom! she dies.

But still, I think that Tris should be honored because when she died, it really is that she is both a dauntless and abnegation when she died, because she won't live with herself if caleb or worse four or someone died, it will kind of feel like how Harry felt when Dobby died in Harry Potter you know

        Loading editor
    • I am not saying that I support the ending, because I don't. That book ruined my poor little Fangirl life.

BUT, I am saying that Tris died proving herself:

She was courageous and brave: Dauntless

She saved Caleb, who she loved and would do anything for: Abnegation

Also, she accomplished what she needed, which makes it a nobel death. Tris will always be with us.

I also want to say, think about how many times Tris has escaped death: too many times to count. How is this possible? I think it's good that Veronica accepted that she has saved Tris too much. (That broke my heart to say)

Also, every life has an end. Tobias will always remember Tris, and I seriously doubt that he will be with anybody else. When Christina, Caleb, Tobias, EVERYBODY'S lives end, they will be reunited with Tris. And they will be happy. I reccomend you read this: http://www.wattpad.com/28356513-allegiant-the-happily-ever-after-author%27s-note because it is a Happy Ever After ending written by a talented young author. She wrote it quickly to save our feels, so don't critisize. I hope that I made you feel better, guys.

    • I think it was actually a really great way of conveying the true meaning of sacrifice and true bravery to teens. Although I cried for hours after I finished it, Veronica did something that no toher author has done, and it sort of makes her stand out in my eyes, and it made me love the book even more.

    • First of all, I think the ending of the trilogy was one of the best I have ever read, and NO ONE should be insulting Veronica Roth. Tris died being brave, selfless, smart, honest, and kind; all of the five factions at once. . But there is no way she could have survived, I'm sorry. Why would she do that to Tobias and Christina and Caleb? If she really loved Tobias, she never would have left him like that. NEVER. And second of all, her death was written in Tris's perspective! And she saw her mother hug her, her mother is dead. There is no way it could have been a trick. We will all accept her death, because we loved her, but that is where we leave her. Come on, people. People die in series. Tris was one of those courageous people, but she didn't make it out. We will have to deal with it; It was Veronica Roth making us brave too. So really.

      Be brave.

      No debio morir.

      Cuatro lo sabe.

    • I totally hated Tris' death! I Can't believe it! I now hate Allegiant with all my heart, for three reasons. 1. Tris shoulden't have had to die! She'd done so much, i think she deserved her happy ending with Tobias.

      2. it ruined Tobias! I love Tobias, he is my favorite character, and that's why i care so mucha bout Tris' death, because of what it did to him, HE deservers to be with her, peaceful and have a happy ending even more than she does, and i can't believe VR just took it away.

      3. URIAH!!!!!!!! *crie sfor an hour* WHY WHY WHY!?!!?!?!?!?!?!!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? WHY KILL URIAH? There was NO reason for him to die AT ALL!  Was Veronica just bored and thought she should make it interesting? IF SO I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I understand that Tris' death had to happen, because she was the only one able to survive the death serum, and therefore the only one who would survive long enough to face David, but URIAH? NO REASON! WHY?

I loved Divergent more than anything, and i thought th rest of the series was going to be great. Insurgent was okay, but id idn't really like it either. Then Allegiant...It ruined my life for a week. I HATE IT! I am so disappointed, and i hate it so much! It makes me cry and sob...GAH!

      I hate books sometimes.

    • I still can't believe veronica roth would do that! Now I can't read the other two books or go see the movie without thinking about her death and how all of it will just be gone at the end. Tris and Tobias' relationship shouldn't have ended there! They were planning to live together and have a full life after everything but it never happened, leaving Tobias a broken man. Veronica had already killed so many of the best characters but left Peter and Marcus to live while Tris dies? Tris already showed her understanding of selflessness and love by taking Caleb's place even though he betrayed her. But instead of being able to build a life out of her bravery, love, and selflessness, she had to die. Allegiant wasn't nearly as good as Divergent and Insurgent, and the ending was way too simple compared to how big of a problem VR created with the whole GD thing.

        Loading editor
    • Okay so I have been crying forever since reading the last book, but I think no matter how she ended this people would hate it. She made a brave move and even though I wish SOOOO much that she would change it, I respect Roth for ending it like this, I do wish she would make another book. Even though it would be hard considering Tris was creamated and stuff. ;(

        Loading editor
    • Did anyone notice Veronica's little mistake? Here's an example:

      Dead            Alive

      Tris              Marcus

      Tori              Evelyn

Uriah            Peter (only lost his memory)

      Caleb (That DEVIL!!!!)

I can see that in every book, someone has to dies (like Tori or Uriah) and how Tobias' promise to Zeke and the whole GD thing would lead to that but Evelyn giving in like that?!? That was pathetic, after everything, Evelyn wastes it all on Four?!? Don't get me wrong, I love Four but she kind of wasted all her plans. Meanwhile, Tobias could have erased Marcus' memory and just killed Peter. Tori dying was also reasonable. The thing is she wasn't someone I REALLY cared about but ya know, sad. Now for Caleb and Tris. CALEB IS ABSOLUTELY THE MOST PATHETIC PERSON EVER TO WALK THE FACE OF THE EARTH OF THIS DYSTOPIAN BOOK!!! Tris not being an idiot would have meant everyone was saved, Tobias was happy, Caleb the traitor was dead, and my dream Epilouge would live. I'm guessing that we can all agree in the point that Veronica's vision is nothing compared to mine

        Loading editor
    • I hated it too. It was sad but the meaning was great. It sets an amazing example. It shows to keep moving. Keep going on. It shows that selflessness and forgiveness are the best qualities you can have. It shows that even after suffering and betrayal you can still find enough love in your heart when it means doing the right thing. So yes Tris's death was sad but I think Veronica was trying to explain that even you should do anything for love even if it means flirting with death.

        Loading editor
    • I loved Allegiant, hated the end, but also understood why VR killed Tris off... I mean, it was her way of showing that Tris, in the end, was all five factions instead of three: Brave, Honest, Kind, Selfless, and Smart. She's the symbol of Divergence, the hero in this war. And heroes die a noble death. She died a noble death. Doesn't mean I agree though xD

    • I see where everyone is coming from about Tris being Abnegation until death, but was it really nessicary to kill her to prove her Abnegation "pride"?

Though I did know something was going to happen to Tris because Tobias had his own POV chapters. But was it really nessiscary for her to DIE?

I'm not sure I will be able to see the Divergent movie now that I know about her fate.

I now wish I had only read Divergent because then I could spare my eyes from the tears that are flowing non stop right now.

Veronica, if you see this please, please, PLEASE make it just a dream or their imagination that Tris died. I'm very unhappy with the ending of the book and I probably won't ever be able to read any of your work again because of this. Killing of Tris was the worst descision you could have made. These series of books was one of my favorites until I read this one. Please change it.

    • Not to be a party crasher (but a fan) but Divergent is stirring up some controversy. There is a big cover up about how Divergent is being used as propaganda to resurrect Nazi way of thinking. The Factions are the dominant superior race, while the inferior factionless are servitude scum of the earth, living in ghetto poverty. This was the same scenario between the Jews and Nazis. This one investigative journalist/author obtained classified secrets about the Divergent author intentions, pertaining to how the book is groundwork for a modern evolution of Charles Darwin, “survival of the fittest”. The strongest species outlast the weaker ones. The names of the factions represent their belief, which forces you to choose or become extinct. The color of clothes for each faction is their flag, being their pledge of allegiance to that faction. Even Divergent fans are being encouraged to join a faction and outcast outsiders. The critique review writer is fair but firm and doesn’t take sides in judging Divergent because it shows the followers a behind the scenes look into the psychological mind of author Veronica Roth way of thinking and where her ideology evolved from in order to create a fascinating novel. Come on Peter hurts like 5 people but Veronica mental messed up everyone with a soul who reads her book. But don't get me wrong I don't hate Veronica for this. Really it was a quite genius way to get big talk about her book. Honestly I think if Tris had to have died it should have been latter on. She's 16 people. Tris and Tobias never even got a little bit of happy ever after. Also, Tris should have had a kid or something. Tris was amazing and to think that she's dead with no one to care on her gene. Really Veronica, mean, mean, mean.

    • I think that it's imposiable for Tris to have died and Tobias not to have killed himself. I'm pretty sure that he would have at least tryed to. Also, it's just evil how Tobias discribes Tris after she dies, it's like VR just wants to break out hearts.

    • I think it kinda makes sence that all the great people died and the horible people lived, because the book is called Divergent. I think VR was just trying to be diffrent and "diverge" from all the crowds of other authors by killing so many people that were favorite chareters.

    • To be honest, I'm fine that Tris died. What I'm not fine with is the way she died. They talked about how the death serum worked on everyone, even GP's. If she had died because of the serum released into the air, I would be happy with the ending. However, she didn't, and I just don't like the idea of Tris being this "all powerful Divergent that is immune to every single serum even the ones that are designed to be affective on Divergents." Just my thoughts.

    • I have to get my feelings out about this trilogy. Since when is it okay to kill off the narrator? Tris' death was not necessary. Personally I think the plan they made to use memory serum on the Bureau instead of letting it hit Chicago was lame. Tris' reasoning is that in tough situations you...decide to be SELFISH and help the people you care about! Come on! How is that selfless? She was looking out only for her loved ones and not thinking if the plan was ethical. The author might as well as killed off Tobias. He was left a broken man at the end of the book. I didn't see any miraculous way that Tris' death inspired him to do better and make a better, factionless world. If anything, we should have seen how Caleb transformed after his sister sacrificed herself for him. Maybe that's why people don't feel satisfed. I didn't really see a huge impact on the fictional world and characters due to Tris' death. And I realize that this is a dystopian novel and yes the real world doesn't always have sunshine and rainbows 24/7 but, I also don't necessarily need a book to give me a reality check on how life is rough. I already live in the real world. If I wanted to get pure facts on how unfair life can be, I would close my book and watch the news. Sometimes I read to be purely entertained and escape into a different world than the one I inhabit. I think most people know the difference between real and make-believe. It's not my life's ambition to drop a shoe at a party, have a prince pick it up and knock on my front door. There's nothing wrong with happy endings in novels! Isn't the point to give us a little hope? If you have no hope, no dreams for the future on how to make the best out a terrible situation, then what do you have? A sad but realistic story? No thanks. Take me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, sure, but let me off feeling satisfied and not dissapointed. Mabe I just get too passionate about reading. I'm a bookworm....what can I say?

    • You people are so dramatic! Trust me, that one book has not ruined your life. This is a freaking dystopian book series.... Its not meant to end with a happy ending and a wedding and kids and blah-blah-blah. Veronica is NOT going to write another book saying that it was all fake, she is NOT going to some how "bring Tris back to life." TRIS DIED. And she died for a reason. Veronica was showing Tris' selflessness, the Abnegation girl that she always was, and her braveness, the Dauntless soldier she has become. For those of you that said things like "She cant do that," and "You cant kill off the main character," and "Since when is it okay to kill the main character," she CAN do that, you CAN kill of the main character, and it has ALWAYS been okay. NOT EVERYTHING IN LIFE ENDS WITH A HAPPY ENDING. Get used to it. If you wanted a happy ending then you shouldn't have read a dystopian series.

guys are taking the death of a Sad-Ending story like the world is gonna collaspe. Her romance with Four/Tobias just makes a sad-ending story more sad.But dont be sad,CUZ ITS A BOOK!

    • I hate that Tris died!  I felt like she struggled enough in all three books that she deserved a happy ending.  And she could have not died, it was just that she left her gun outside the weapons lab, so she wasn't able to protect herself.  Plus, there have been enough deaths in this series, especially in Allegiant, and I was really hoping it would stop with Uriah.

        Loading editor
    • She left her gun because she didn't know that someone was waiting inside to kill her. She figured that all she needed to do was get through the death serum which she was immune to. She wasnt expecting David to be at the back of the room holding a gun, ready to kill her.

    • ^ Plus, I've said a million times, its a dystopian series. There are no happy endings. Her death was symbolic.

      That's what I was wondering.
If thats who they were talking about then they were wrong. Rick Riordan doesn't kill off his main characters so how would he be tied with Veronica for the "most evil author"? That's just stupid. No author is evil, how can you even say that? What if every author just stopped writing because they heard that someone thinks one of their fellow authors is evil? How would you feel? What if someone called you evil?

I think he meant George R. R. Martin.

    • But they put initials for Veronica Roth as VR so if they were talking about George R.R. Martin then they should've put GRRM... Or GM. Anything but RR since those are clearly not his first or last name initials.

D': sad

    • When people say that no other author has ever killed off the main character, that is wrong. They killed off Firestar in The Last Hope, it made people sad. When people think that VR is the best author because she kills off the main character, they can go do whatever they want, tell whoever they want, etc. Her death was making me want to punch a hole into the wall and I almost did, but I managed to stop myself. My suggestion is to write a new book with that being a whole simulation and the events of Alliegant were just a simulation. I know that some people love Alliegant's story, but would you rather have the main character get shot by a guy who lives, or would you rather have a new story?

And I'm pretty sure David died. The end. XD

As much as I want Tris to be alive, its not gonna happen.

    • Tris was the worst character. I was pretty happy she died. People say they hate the books because she died. I hated the books because she was the main character. Too Mary-Sueish. I kept reading cause it was intriguing. It got a bit better. Just because the main character died doesn't mean you have to hate the whole series for it. I cried more when Al died, and I only knew him for about half of the first book. Alleigent was my favorite book. The well paced action scenes kept me as a fan.

    • Tris dying was a little off to me, but does VR seriously have to kill off the good characters (all except Jeanine)?! I liked Tris, I honestly didn't want any of the Prior's to die, but look at what happened. But take an example with the Hunger Games! Rue, Prim, Finnick, and many more people die. Peeta was brainwashed for crying out loud. The worst part was that it went back to normal in the end.

Have you guys NEVER read "The Diary of Anne Frank?" That was a TRUE story. Innocent human beings were being killed in the thousands...EVERY day! Mother and children were sent to shower facilities where they undressed in public with no dignity, and then later gassed to death. Of course, if they had any gold or silver in their teeth...these were knocked out first. These people died with no dignity and were considered trash and scum of the earth. What about slavery? What about Lincoln? Martin Luther King? What about 9-11?? What about the American Indian who were almost wiped out and the few survivors sent off packing to reservations? What I'm trying to say is ...C'mon people...get some perspective. What's so galling are people so upset about the way Roth ended her book. It's her damn book...this is America...she can end it any way she so pleases. These people forming petitions demanding Roth to change her book...it reminds me of the Nazi party and their book burnings. Burning ANY book that they didn't like or thought was inappropriate. If you don't like the ending...that's fine...it's your 'right' not to like it. But it's also Roth's 'right' to publish a book how she sees fit. It is NOT your right to demand her to change her book.

Even though I didn't like the ending either I do think signing a petition to get the book changed is a bit much. And all these things about American history, like you said, its just a book, its not real! so damn I think the one over analyzing things would be you. Fiction books aren't supposed to be real, that's why theyre called fiction in the first place. So it is possible to have someone u liked die and be brought back in unrealistic ways, whether a ghost, resurrected, or something else.

    • Well...mighty brave for you to speak up...but forget to sign in (cough, cough..coward). I'm overanalyzing? I think the ones overanalyzing are the people petitioning for an author to change their books. This is America...people are free to write a book and end it the way that they want.

    • I totally agree with everyone on Tris's death, I mean, Tris's death was so sad and of course I'll still be grieving, but come on!! It's just a book people! Veronica had every right to kill off Tris (as tragic as it is) or do whatever she wants, because it's her book after all. And all this talk about VR writing another book bringing Tris back to life is bullshit. She's NOT going to do that, so just freaking GET over it. Of course I feel awful for Tobias and am grieving over Tris's death, I'm not denying that, because she was an amazing and inspirational character, but I think we all saw it coming. It seemed kind of evident that Tris was going to die because I think VR kinda spared Tris way too much throughout the series. And also, everyone needs to stop calling VR "evil" just because she killed off the main character okay? In case all of you haven't noticed, there are TONS of books where the main character ends up dying, and of course it's awful, but I mean it's what the author decided to do, so in the end, we all have to suck it up and be brave. I mean, I felt really bad for Tobias because I really believe he deserved a happy ending, but it's just a book people. Not all books end with a "happy ever after." And also, Tris's death was NOT cowardly by ANY means for all of you people that were thinking so. She died to save her brother and all the people she loved, how was that NOT brave? By going to the lab and sacrificing her self, I think she exhibited the ultimate symbol of divergence, sacrificing herself for the people she loved. And even though Tris's death was tragic, it doesn't give anyone any right to criticize VR for it or suggest that she's making a fourth book and bringing Tris back to life. God people it's just a damn book for crying out loud!! Life goes on! :(

    • I agree with you. When the book began switching to Tobias' perspective...I knew there had to be a reason for it. AND, I was VERY sad and disappointed with many of the characters who die in the book...because I began to care so much for certain characters. I actually choked up and cried when Uriah died. BUT, as the poster above state, this is a book of fiction and try not to take it to the extreme...such as hating Roth...or starting silly pititions for her to alter or change her books. Remember the real things of life....much sadder things have happened in the real world than in the fantasy world of Divergent.

    • After having read Insurgent which i viewed as a dissapointment after Divergent, i mean it was honestly a time filler... anyway i told my friend who also read the books that Tris must die for this series to truly be great. It makes this series unforgettable and a stand out in a genre with great competition. The books most often compared this series would be the hunger games, and in those books somehow Prim is basically the only death with two hunger games and an all out war. I give credit to Veronica Roth for having the guts to do something no one else wants to do. YOU EITHER DIE A HERO OR LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO SEE YOURSELF BECOME THE VILLIAN.

When one would think that it would be a poison, or something that say stops blood flow, not something you can fight off with willpower. Also Tris died because she didnt bring a gun with her into the weapons lab. At least that is what I think it came down to. Also the only part I found said about Tris' death is Tobias' reaction to it.

I believe the death serum does something along the lines of convincing your body to shut itself down, and you end up dying because of it.

Okay I totally agree with the people who actually LOVED Tris. But the other ones who think Tris's death was necessary is a total LOSER. If it had been up to me I would've made Tris grab his shoulder right before he went in and say, "I hope you die and go to he'll you worthless piece of shit, you fucking bastard, you nasty son of a bitch." Then she would hug him and say, " I love you." That would be so messed up,but Caleb would die and Tris would love and have cute little babies with Tobias. Infinitely better story.

      CHAPTER 52

"When her body first hit the net, all I registered was a gray blur. I pulled her across it and her hand was small, but warm, and then she stood before me, short and thin and plain and in all ways unremarkable---except she had jumped first. The stiff had jumped first.

      Even I didn't jump first.

Her eyes were so stern, so insistent.

      Beautiful."

You can't just create a young, beautiful, and genuine romance, and then rip the couple apart at the end. I'm really hoping that she creates another book through the eyes of Tobias, and at the end he dies and joins Tris and her parents. It can't end like this. It's not okay.

As Veronica said, all three books led up to that, she didn't just wake up one day and say, "let's kill Tris!!!!", no. It was bound to happen and although very upsetting, you can't hate the book for that. To me, her sacrifice for someone she loved and for the greater good of society was a good way for Tris to die. It showed exactly the type of person she was, selfless, kind, brave, intelligent, honest, divergent. It had to happen, and although terribly tragic, I give props to Veronica for not just trying to please fans, for writing how she had thought the book to go the entire time. It was interesting to see how Tobias and Caleb and Christina and everybody went about after her death, too. Personally, the scattering of the ashes was perfect and I think tris watching over her friends and family from above, was glad to see that happen. Tobias getting into politics was very interesting to see too. Overall, great ending, and although you guys want all these alternate endings, none will really top the emotions of the original. After all, "a fire that burns that bright is not meant to last".

This is how I personally understood it. The serum worked upon certain genes in the human body. These genes were the same mutant genes that the scientist developed...so the serums reacted differently with a normal human being...or Divergents. This is why Beatrice could control her visions under the Dauntless serum. It was also why Beatrice was immune to the Death serum. The Peace serum did work on Beatrice to a certain extent...but I think she was either given a STRONG dose of it...or it was altered so it would work on her. I know it didn't do much to her after she ate the doped bread.

(Truthfully, I would have been even more upset if Tobias died. He was my favourite character.)

    • You are all missing the point. You're all angry and upset about Tris's death and you're blaming Veronica, I am actually happy she died. In mostly every story, it has a happy ending. I'm not saying that's bad, I'm just saying it gets boring and un-realistic. Tris's death, THE MAIN CHARACTER'S death, shows us how brilliant Veronica is and how realistic she made the story. If you all don't see that, then I don't know how you understood the rest of the series. I'm not insulting anyone, I'm just stating that I think you might not understand Veronica's point in writing the ending this way. This is a fantastic ending, props to Veronica!

I know we're all upset that tris died (..I may have been in never ending tears..) but it had to happen.
Still, ugh... And in the hunger games Suzanne Collins didnt kill Katiniss did she? It really wasnt necessary.

Yeah but (spoilers) prim dies instead.

I know. But Prim isnt the one telling the story, she isnt the main character.

    • the book honestly is so sos so good it really is amazing  but the ending  .. . oh my goodness!!!! noooooonononono remembering the series makes me both mad and sa and see the trailer of the movie or looking at first timer divergent readers makes me cry because i know that she will not survive i know that this and that it the reason so it was like she finally realizes or defined or proved that she is not only brave but also selfless but honestly he reason why i feel really sad and mad at the ending is because veronica didn't gave them a chance they loved each other so much but they were never given a poper chance .. .  they were living in a war i know hey had those moment and such but they were never given that peace of mind and safety being truly with each other in a world were they will be safe they were never given the chance to have a family . .. which makes the entire ending in my opinion suck . . . although it is a good book and a great series overall . . . .

    • I demand a fourth book!!!!!!!!!! Tris needs to fake her death and come back.

    • I am very upset.I think Tris should not die she should be rewarded but not by death all becuase she help others.I think that one movie of the series having her die will not make a lot of money you will just have people be hating on you.If you don't want this to happen don't make it true turn it to her fear not to death. If you don't listen to me i dont think i will like the movies or the books because of the choice you made.If someone has to die let it be Eric he desvers it more than he others. And make another book if not that have her fake her death its more intresting and suspense ful and show her in hidding and then her and four find each other. There is nothing wrong channging the ending as long as the whole story does not change.PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU DONT WANT THE FANS TO BE UPSET AT THE END WHEN THEY ARE ALREADY EXCITED AND DRAWN TO HER CHARACTER.And what about Four you are going to break his heart in addition you started off with her voice and the first scene with her in Divertgent. It's just wrong and you know it.Please change  your mind remember nothing is permanent.

    • I believe Veronica Roth did the right thing giving Tris eternal rest. The ending is her being like one of us, we are all Divergent. She is being selfless, brave, honest, peaceful, and intelligent. She is being selfless out of LOVE not GUILT because, when she survives the death serum after she does it and not allowing Caleb to do it, this proves she is being selfless out of love. She is being honest by being truthful to herself and smart by realizing that all the five personalities which categorize the factions are needed in order to be selfless, smart, honest, peaceful, and brave. She is being peaceful by erasing the Bureau's memories, thus thwarting the upcoming Reset.

    • I realize why Roth made Tris die, but it really was not necessary.

    • I now understand the ending of Allegiant. But I'm still sad. But it is only the begining of the film series and it's not too late for producers to change the ending to Allegiant in 2016.

    • I was so Mad and Sad at the end of that book I was going to throw it out the window I mean what kind of ending is that to one of my favorite series? I really loved reading the books and then poof Tris is gone by David. I'm like so mad at Veronica Roth but I get why she did it.

    • I think she was brave to finish it like that. She knew people wouldn't like but also she knew that it had to end one way or another

so i hate it when all the good characters die in books! :(

    • Veronica, What about if Tobias' mom kept Tris to test her like Jeanine did before.  2 1/2 years later he could find out, hate his mother, and he and Tris could make their way back to one another.  i.e., "Resilient!"
