    • He's a coward.

    • Okay, here's my thing with Peter. He was very cowardly and kind of a sadistic(?) person, yes, but in Allegiant, you see that he knows this and he hates that about himself and he mentally questions what is wrong with himself. I don't really think that you can hate him after knowing that, I mean I can see not exactly liking him but I felt bad, he was so ashamed of he was to the point of where he had to erase his memories so that he woudlnt be that kind of person anymore. Overall, I felt sympathy for him in the end and although I don't LOVE him, I have a sort of odd respect for him and don't despise him at all.

    • Here is my interpretation.

In the first book, Peter was willing to do anything to make sure he would get ahead. However, he did stick by his two childhood friends until they got banished.

In the second book, Tris saved Peter's life from a bullet and that made him rethink his outlook on life. He decides to go at least one good thing before he dies, so he saved Tris and Tobias from an execution.

In book three, Peter admits that he does not want to be evil. While he was on the way to repenting, he still makes the tragic decision to erase his memories.

He was a tragic figure, both a villain and a hero.

    • He wanted to act tough so people would know not to mess with him and that he was in charge ( a bit like eric ) but he knew inside he was good so he saved Tris and four. I think he was good in side and knew his mistakes r

    • My opinion changed through the books:

DIVERGENT: I thought he was a sadistic, narcissistic, little coward trapped inside the body of a large tough boy. INSURGENT: A less narcissistic boy that was actually making progress in his character. ALLEGIANT: A boy who truly wants to change and be forgiven for all of his AWFUL sins.

(P.S.: In the end when Tris shot Peter and her father had a problem, I thought that Andrew needed to shut up. If he even knew half of the things that Peter had done -to Tris if you want to be specific- he probably wouldn't argue.

    • During Divergent, I really disliked Peter. As I read Insurgent, I started to see a decent side of him. But after Allegiant, I really felt bad for him. He dug himself too deep a pit, realized too late, and thought drasically.

P.S. I adore Miles Teller, and saw Divergetn after my reliking of Peter, so that was seriously the icing on the cake!

    • I LOVE HIM!!!

    • I feel really bad now for hating him, even though I like Miles Teller, I read Divergent I thought I could just run up to him and knock him out cold, I read Insurgent I thought he could just use a slap for trying to steal the disk, then in Allegiant I thought why did I hate him in the first place, I think he tried to start over and turn over a new leaf.

So... I know he has his ANNOYING (THIS SIDE MAKES ME WANNA KNEE HIM IN HIS PETER) side and his good side where I could give him a girl's version a manhug...

    • Peter is my favourite character. I just think he is fascinating. I hated him in book one, loved him in book two, and really pitied him in book 3. I wish there were some chapters written from his POV because I'd love to have known what he was thinking sometimes!

I think if Tris ever forgave him for his actions in Divergent (and remember she did tell him that she could), they could have actually been friends one day. They had a very complicated relationship. She and Peter were kind of alike in some ways. At least, Peter thought so.

In Insurgent they have this conversation:

"I know what you did to Will, you know. Don't pretend you're better than I am, because you and I, we're exactly the same."

You're wrong," I say. "We may both be bad, but there's a huge difference between us - I'm not content with being this way."

In Allegiant, we learn that the "huge difference" that Tris sees is gone:

"I want the serum because I'm sick of being this way," he says

He knows he's done terrible things and he wants to change for the better. I found it very tragic that in the end he had nothing he wanted to remember and just took the easy way out. Ugh, he's such a complex character I could go on and on attempting to analyze him! But don't worry, I'll stop there.

    • He's not dauntless. 1) he wants to take the memory serum so he can get rid of his past and start over 2) he should have changed himself to be a better person instead of wiping himself out

    • Peter had no choice at all, when he wanted to wipe out his memory.

    • Okay first of all he was evil and cruel. Though if he's sick of being that way then maybe he had something troubling in his childhood that made him who he is. I know it's very hard to change especially if with all his memories of being cruel.Itll be like asking Jeanie to like abnegation. So maybe he was brought up like that😎

    • he is horrible do not have words to describe him. I did like the fact he saved Tris and Tobias but he should die in a hole............

    • He was repentant. His end was tragic in that he had the ability to repent and change his ways on his own, but he could not see it.

    • In the first book I absoulutely hated peter but afterwards in Insurgent I really started to like him.

    • I'm still having mixed emotions about Peter, he's quite a complex character, and I'd like to read the book a few more times before making a final decision on my opinion of him.

    • I HATE PETER SO MUCH!!!!!!! At first, I was okay with him, then I hated him, then I liked him again, and now I DESPISE HIM!!!!!! For all of the people out there who love this guy, they all suck. They have a horrible taste in guys!!

    • Peter sucks, but miles teller is okay. He's a great actor, but his character Peter isn't.

    • I like Al and Edward a lot better than Peter btw

    • Although in the movie, insurgent, when Peter says the f word, I always laugh. I would have never expected anyone in that movie to say that. It was hilarious.XD

    • I think Peter is just a guy who tries to be goos although he cant. He is really hillarious (in the movie) everytime he opened the mouth and say those stupid things i honestly laugh a lot. Despite he is cruel, he is my favorite character

I agree. People say that that was admirable of him but it's kind of cowardly

Why did you like him in Insurgent if he betrayed all his friends
