  • Dont you think its weird how similar the books are. I just started Divergent and am on Mockingjay in HG but they are alike in theme. Someone expected is the lover of the heroine, the heroines are both rebels, and it involves bullying, unlikely alliances, and bloodshed. No offense Veronica but i like HG better. So wich is your favorite

    • Hey i totally disagree. Divergent is better than Katniss. more beautiful as well who likes brown more than blonde? Besides their arent anything a bit close to the five factions and factionless

        Loading editor
    • It's true the similarities are very close. Like okay book one is the heroins living in the society and surviving in it against all odds (Katniss wins HG and Tris becomes member of Dauntless), second book there are people rising up against the society and gov. they live in (District uprisings and Erudite faction uprising for power) not to mention the additional firepower of someone you didnt expect (District 13 and the Factionless) along with their turns-out-to-be-evil leader (President Coin and Evelyn). So now third book roles around and these two similar heroins are risking their lives for the ones they love in their rebel ways and then BAAM- close character you love dies (Primrose and Uriah). Only drastic difference is that Tris freaking dies (not okay).

I personally thought the Hunger Games trilogy was more thought out and developed then Divergent (I swear i'm not sure saying this becuase Tris dies), and I really connected with the characters more. This is not to say that I didn't with Divergent characters, because I identified very closely with both Tris and Tobias. So yeah pretty similar.

    • Yeah!!! i read both of them... And i love both of the books, but i like the Divergent series more... Because i think Divergent is more creative than Hunger Games.... I'm not offending the Hunger games!!! i love the hunger games too!! The actresses look similar too

        Loading editor
    • I prefer hunger games more because katniss shows bravery and real emotions, which I think tris doesn't show enough of. Even though tris dies, it was more of a selfless act than a brave one, at least how I see it. But divergent is still good. #girlonfire

        Loading editor
    • For the whole series  prefer Divergent because it doesn't have fake love (like Katniss has for Peeta). As well as, there is not a twisted love triangle. But I prefer THG ending compared to Allegiant.

        Loading editor
    • the hunger games is waaaay better than divergent

        Loading editor
    • I'd say Divergent. Tris had only Tobias, while Katniss had to choose between Peeta or Gale. Less romance drama.

        Loading editor
    • Divergent all the way! But still very close battle but divergent won because I could understand  the cause and  the meaning of each fashion whale the district's where confusing. One thing I'm confused about is where do they get the medal for guns and machines? I'm sorry I have not finished the last book in the divergent series but I will.

        Loading editor
    • When just analyzing the main events the books seem rather identical but while reading the Divergent books I wasnt remindered of Hunger games at all because the sub plot is so different, espescally Allegiant. Though I personally prefered Hunger Games.

        Loading editor
    • I'm a fan of both, Honestly I feel like the hunger games is sick. I'm pretty sure that Collins is a sociopath. But it's slightly interesting. Honestly the Hunger Games isn't very reallistic, I can't see it happening in the future, unless social outcomes are screwed up. Again if science progresses at that level it would be closer to Divergent. Divergent is better in some parts and Hunger Games is better in others. I feel like Katniss is a weirder character she's illogical and she's grown up in a society of bloodshed she would be able to handle the shit that happens to her. T atleast has excuses and she remains stronger that Katniss... I hated Mockingjay.

If that were the case, the Divergents would probably win every time.

It's already a fanfiction. The divergent's don't have that much of advantage believe me...

They're original so they have a chance, but they can get screwed over if they aren't combat ready.

True but that doesn't really work as well. The real question is if Tris and Katniss entered the arena what would happen? I can see Tris grabbing the throwing knives at the first moment. Katniss's weapon of choice is obvious. Would Tris survive?

    • After trying to catch up and just recently finishing mockingjay on vacatioin, I have realised how better Sizannes writing style is. It's like she thought of the whole story before she worte a single word. Also, they are both Y.A. destopian books, and I think that divergents author was inspired by hungerr games. I've also realised how hunger games is a possible future. Although I love the concept idea for divergent much better, it seems a little forcedand whatnot.

My first story is about the Secret Saturdays, which you probably haven't heard of, and the second one, the sequel to the first, is about Percy Jackson. Well, it's actually about Annabeth. Percy becomes a part of it later on. But I'm not going to be publishing the stories for a while. But I will let you know on Camp Half-Blood Wiki when I publish them on Fan Fiction

I went on your profile, and saw that one of your favorite wikis is secret saturdays and my firsat thought was "How did he/she finish the series?!" because I use to watch that show before I lost where it is on TV. I'll catch up to the end at one point. Also, I've heard of the one about Annabeth, too.

    • That series used to be on TV every night about a year or two again at 1 am, but they got rid of it now. I watched the series when it was still airing new episodes. In fact, I started to watch it at the beginning of the new second season. There were only 36 episodes in the whole series. What was the last episode you watched?

I knew you were a girl but I wasn't sure because it's been a long time since I've actually looked at your profile. Also, gender stereotype, a boy can. Also, I should've said "I've read of the one about Annabeth, too" because I read about it on your profile.

Well, I watched a long time ago and I'm still young with a terrible memory, so I remember the episode in which Argox (did I spell it right) uses the cryptic artifacts (as I call them) to get through that... temple thing? After that everything is a hase. I think that's when cartoon network got a little careless with the series, but I started trying to watch midnight episodes of it on boomerang, but it was too hartd. I'll find a way to finish the series like maybe netflix (if they've got it).

I found divergent impressively accurate. Also, the difference between factions and districts is that ditricts are a political problem about states who suffer for a corrupt power, and factions a social problem about the belief in a society divided into a social-caste system of your "group" and chosing which value, lifestyle, and people to chose above others. Also, Suzannne Collins goes to far with Mockingjay. My friend wanted to watch the movie, and I told her that it's designed to depress. She told me she has heard this before, herself. Its too strong.

        Loading editor
    • I feel The Hunger Games is slightly different with Divergent. In Divergent, there is almost no notable love triangles (one of them is David-Andrew Prior-Natalie Prior), and there are only five "districts". Those "districts" represent human traits in order to sustain peace rather than doing for the government. Tris didn't have any relationship until she meets Tobias, whereas Katniss does. Katniss' relationship with Peeta is forced, but Tris' comes naturally. The Hunger Games is already a dystopian society, but Divergent is led to, because of a little flaw.

(DUE TO THE SPOILER, SKIP IF YOU NEED TO.)

And Katniss' sibling is later killed while Tris' continues to stay alive ... while the protagonist sacrificed herself.

I started reading the 1st book and it seemed kind of "slow-paced". It is not that exciting in a way where Divergent started with a big plot and continued and Hunger games went through millions of explanations and then got exciting.

ok, whoever you are, WHAT THE WHAT???

THAT IS SOOOOOO NOT TRUE. SERIOUSLY. IF YOU HAD SAID SHE WAS MORE BEAUTIFUL BECAUSE OF HER PERSONALITY, OR SAID SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL AND LEFT IT AT THAT, THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE! THERE WAS NO NEED FOR THAT UNFAIR COMMENT ABOUT PEOPLE LIKING BLONDE HAIR BETTER THAN BROWN! YOU SHOULDN'T SAY THINGS LIKE THAT! just to let everyone else who has read this - blonde hair, brown hair, or ANY type of hair, i think everyone is beautiful in their own way. hair colour does not matter.

    • I enjoyed the Divergent Trilogy better than the Hunger Games because I felt that the romantic aspects in Divergent played a secondary role to the story, while in the Hunger Games it was the main focus. Also, I felt that Tris and Four's relationship was more realistic than Katniss and Peeta's.
